Here at Encounter Karma, we provide a service that offers all our guests a comfortable and memorable journey through an ancient country that still boasts many secrets waiting to be discovered. Encounter Karma hopes you can discover for yourself the wonders of Nepal and the magnificent experiences you can have here are endless.
Encounter Karma mission is to be the provider of choice for international adventure travelers looking for premium quality, professionally guided, trips and expeditions in Nepal. We provide a wide range of activities and cultural experiences for people of all physical abilities. The company also aspires to continuously improve the communities to which it visits in hopes of having a positive impact upon the lives of the people that are so wonderful to open their worlds' to us.
The choice for the company name was based upon our personal belief that people should not limit themselves regarding anything they wish to experience or accomplish in their lives. We believe that most people are capable of accomplishing far more than they might believe.
Our Approach:
Our approach is to ensure our professional guides take as much of the planning, coordinating, organizing and worry off your shoulders as possible. It is hard to have a deep, enriching experience in a foreign land, if you are constantly worrying about logistics. With our advanced planning and relationships, we open doors for people that they might not have even known were there.
Upon arriving at the airport where your itinerary is to begin, you are greeted by a member of our experienced team and brought to your initial accommodations. From this point and until you are returned to the airport for your flight home, our guides look after you and ensure you understand the details of your trip. On some itineraries you may have blocks of time to explore or shop on your own if you wish. Our guides will help to familiarize you with your location and local customs to help ensure the most safe and rewarding experience possible.
Encounter Karma wants to help people have some truly amazing experiences by making it as easy as possible to go to some magnificent places that might otherwise be inaccessible. We understand how busy everyone is today and how difficult, if not down right impossible, it might be for people to reach these destinations without some assistance.

"During a month long trip to Nepal in 2004 I wanted to take a 10-day trek through the Himalayas. In searching all of the expedition companies in KTM I found Karma Lama. With a name of “Karma Lama” as my guide I knew I would be in good hands. For 10-days Karma guided me on the Jomsom trek. Every village we passed through we were met by locals who not only knew Karma but liked him even more as I noticed the fun Karma had with the locals during the Holi festival. In December 2009 we have travelled to Nepal for a period of 2 weeks with our 2 children aged 9 and 15. After quite some web research for tour operators we finally came to Encounter Karma; a still young company but headed by Karma Lama who has extensive experience as tour guide and trip organiser in Nepal.
The reason why we engaged with Karma was because he was very responsive in all communication, provided good advice and was flexible in making adjustments to the schedule to fit our wishes.
We really felt him to be a travel consultant rather then someone just quickly selling a package from the book.
From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu till the farewell we were very good taken care off by Karma, his porters and local guides. All arrangements and logistics worked out well, even though the strikes that are so common in Nepal sometimes make this not an easy job.
The trek was one of the most stunning things we ever did with unbelievably beautiful mountain scenery (incl. snow on Christmas morning at Poon Hill!), gorgeous villages and nice teahouses to stay the night.
The trek was demanding at times but for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness it is very doable; and the kids, well they had the best time ever and were often well ahead of us with one of the porters of Karma…..
Next to walking there was ample time to roam around villages, to enjoy cups of coffee with views to a kill and to try beating Karma in a card game….
We all agree it was one of the best travels we ever made and we can’t wait to go back.
When we do so, we for sure we will get Karma in to organise it all.
